Nurse Practitioner Services
Nurse practitioner services at Flora Foundations offer prescribing, medication management, and primary care within NP scope, focused on the mental health side of general practice. Our NP works closely with our clinical team so that medication decisions and therapy stay coordinated for the people who want both.
Available in person at our St. John's clinic or virtually across Canada. No family doctor referral is required to book.
What our nurse practitioners offer
NPs in Newfoundland can diagnose, prescribe, and manage conditions that overlap with mental health care. Our practice focuses on the areas below:
-
For adults with an existing DSM-5 diagnosis, or for clients moving from a Flora ADHD assessment into treatment. Includes stimulant and non-stimulant options, dose titration, and ongoing management.
-
Including SSRI and SNRI prescribing, dose adjustments, and coordination with your therapist if you're doing therapy alongside medication.
-
ADHD, anxiety, and depression frequently overlap with sleep issues that respond to targeted treatment.
-
If you have a prescriber outside the clinic, our NP can consult, support your existing plan, or take over care depending on what fits.

FAQs
Do I need a referral to see a nurse practitioner at Flora Foundations?
No. Nurse practitioners in Newfoundland can be seen directly without a family doctor referral, and no referral is needed to book at Flora. If you have an existing prescriber, we're happy to coordinate care, but you don't need a note or referral to start.
Do you have to pay to see a nurse practitioner in Newfoundland?
Public system NP appointments are covered under NL's provincial health plan (MCP), but access varies significantly by region and clinic availability. Private NP appointments at Flora Foundations are self-pay, with costs typically eligible for reimbursement under extended health plans or Health Spending Accounts.
